Lightweight and user friendly 4G multi-function tablet targets efficient team communication in industrial environments

Lauda-Königshofen

RugGear, one of the leading developers and manufacturers of rugged mobile devices for professional use in extreme safety and working conditions presents the RG935, its innovative new development for industry professionals: The ultra-rugged 10.1’’ tablet is equipped with two 4000 mAh batteries that can be changed individually during ongoing operation. The 4G-capable tablet can be operated with up to 2 SIM cards, has a wide WiFi range and comes with Android™ 11. As a completely independent mobile communication device, the RG935 can be used in a variety of industrial environments, but is especially designed for predictive maintenance. In the logistics sector, the device is used for GPS vehicle location, navigation and fleet management, for documentation, as a barcode reader, in warehouse management and in the area of FactoryWare Line Management. Thanks to the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon® 665 processor and the HD video and voice over LTE function, it can be reliably used for remote maintenance tasks in real time. The MCPTT-enabled tablet also performs well in the public safety sector thanks to its one-hand operation (adjustable wrist strap), powerful loudspeaker and capacitive full HD display, which is easy to read even in direct sunlight and can be operated perfectly with wet fingers in the rain as well as with gloves.

Multifunctional and lightweight

The RG935 is designed to be a multifunctional mobile device in the automotive, utilities, industrial manufacturing, transport/logistics and public safety sector. Two powerful hot-swap (separately replaceable) batteries (4000 mAh each) allow screwless battery replacement during operation. The robust but still very light tablet (930 g) is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon® 665 Octacore processor, which guarantees smooth multi-task processing: With just one mobile device, several activities such as MCPTT/PTT, photo or video functions and, for example, maintenance applications can be processed at the same time without any loss of performance. Three customisable hardware buttons allow users to switch between their most important applications with just one touch. The RG935 supports all industrial WiFi networks - without signal-blind corners - and offers additional operational security and flexibility through 4G technology. Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy guarantees a secure and stable connection, high speed and a long range with low power consumption. The 10.1'' outdoor display features a widescreen format, full HD resolution (1200 x1920 pixels) and excellent readability from all viewing angles. The particularly scratch-resistant, durable display made of Corning® Gorilla® Glass scores particularly well in field service applications. It can be operated even in the rain with wet hands or gloves, but also performs at full capacity in direct sunlight. The RG935 is NFC-enabled, making it suitable for enterprise-wide access control for time tracking and data verifications. Two USB ports allow the device to be charged and used simultaneously. The USB 2.0 port is used to connect other peripherals, and in reverse-charging mode, to charge other mobile devices; the USB 3.1 (USB-C) port can be used for fast data transfer and tablet charging.

A PA-amplified 2W high-performance speaker enables a volume of up to 103 dB in noisy environments. The tablet comes with a 13MP (PDAF) camera on the back and a 5MP (FF) camera on the front, offering high-quality photo and video broadcast quality. GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou can be used as location services. Thanks to various sensors such as light sensor, Hall-effect sensor, gyroscope, gravity sensor, geomagnetic sensor and barometer, the user can collect data in real time while monitoring and controlling the production process on site.

A variety of accessories expand the possibilities for both mobile use in the company and onboard operation for field staff. The scope of delivery includes an adjustable hand strap (to be fixed with screws), a 3.5 mm headset, an USB C data cable, a charger and a SIM card eject tool. As accessories, RugGear offers its customers a 3.5 mm PTT headset and a 3.5 mm PTT-RSM, car/truck charger (cigarette lighter socket) and a desktop charger.

RugGear's tablet innovation meets the highest rugged standards of IP68 and MIL-STD-810H, provides drop protection up to 1.5m and is waterproof for at least 30 minutes in 1.2m deep water.

Martin Haaf, CEO of RugGear GmbH comments the development: "Our new tablet RG935 combines all requirements of the most demanding industrial users in one mobile device. With this innovation, we are pleased to be able to meet our customers' demand for a high-performance all-in-one tablet for the industrial sector and thus make business processes more effective, secure and cost-efficient."
