RG530 | Ready for Mission Critical Push-to-talk
For more than 10 years, RugGear has been one of the world's leading manufacturers of rugged mobile phones, smartphones and tablets, a provider of complete technological industry solutions and the partner of choice for leading network operators, companies and well-known brands. With the RG530, the company is now introducing another extremely robust smartphone designed for professional push-to-talk use in the mission-critical area. The device, certified according to US military standard 810H, is suitable for team communication with critical applications in the security and defense sector.
It is also the ideal all-in-one device in the industrial and logistics sector for the easy integration of industrial-, PTT-, but also applications from leading MCPTT suppliers. It scores with a 13-pin interface for connecting an RSM and PTT headset, FOTA updates, double security through seamless A/B updates, but also contactless, company-wide full configuration and control of all company devices through Zero Touch. A replaceable battery with multi-protection, a fast SOS function, highest audio quality (dual microphone incl. noise cancelling, 105 db speaker), an extremely robust, water and drop-proof housing and disinfection-suitable surfaces round off the features of the new RugGear smartphone.
Why Mission Critical Push-To-Talk?
MCPTT is regulated by Mission Critical Push-To-Talk via LTE standards of the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). MCPTT is specifically designed to meet mission-critical public safety requirements for voice communications, including reliable low-latency connectivity, audio, security and encryption quality, support for one-to-one and group calls, broadcast calls, emergency alerts, caller identification and direct device-to-device communications. To meet the growing needs of work communication in specific environments and work areas, LTE-based public network communication for public safety has been recognized worldwide. The trend is towards integrated development of communication technology through lower investment, faster implementation, high reach and reliability. The primary objective of 3GPP is to enable all relevant public safety authorities and organizations (such as military, police and administration, fire department, rescue services, public transport and energy supply) to use the same technology and uniform communication over the same frequency through MCPTT, thus making communication more efficient and, especially in crisis situations, faster. Especially in the transport sector (rail, air) there are more and more tenders for uniform systems to replace GSM-R, TETRA and DECT networks and equipment. This will gradually be transferred to more and more industrial sectors in the near future. These new challenges will require reliable mobile devices such as the RG530, which enable smooth communication from the hardware and software side.
Product highlights of the new RG530
The RG530 enables teams to communicate, share and process data easily and securely via Mission Critical Push to Talk. With its handy, easy-to-grip design and multifunctionality, the RG530 offers the advantages of several mobile devices such as PTT device, smartphone and laptop in one. The device is equipped with a 13-pin connector for the additionally available PTT headset and RSM. The powerful speaker (105dB) guarantees best audio quality even in noisy environments. The dual microphone scores with noise cancelling and high sensitivity (-32db). The powerful 3,600 mAh battery with Multi-Protection can be replaced if necessary. Especially in rough working environments (extreme heat, cold, dust, wetness) the rugged and military certifications offer safety: The device is both IP68 certified (dustproof and waterproof up to 1.2m for 30 min.) and MIL-STD-810H certified according to the US military standard, i.e. protected against vibrations, falls from up to 1.5m and protection against extremely high/low temperatures. Even under adverse working conditions and with dirty hands or gloves, both the touch screen and the large push-to-talk button are easy to operate. Thanks to the special surfaces and materials (Corning Gorilla Glass III and TPU) of the RG530, the device can be cleaned regularly with a disinfectant solution of 70% alcohol and distilled water or soap solution without damage.
"With the rapid evolution from traditional terrestrial mobile devices to MCPTT devices, i.e. devices for all mobile, cross-network communications, customer demand, particularly in the public safety/blue light sector, is increasing for reliable mobile devices with the highest level of security technologies," said Maverick Chen, president of RugGear. "We are pleased to be able to contribute to faster, secure and cross-organizational communication through our devices, so that especially in extreme situations, fast and precise action can be taken," adds Martin Haaf, CEO of RugGear GmbH.
